Reigning Olympic Games marathon silver medalist Eunice Jepkirui Kirwa has been banned for four years by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
The Kenyan born turned Bahraini, who won bronze at the 2015 world championships was suspended for testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO) and the AIU announced her suspension today.
The Nandi born runner was provisionally suspended since May after EPO was detected in her blood sample. Her four-year suspension is backdated to May 7, 2019.
She lost the 2016 Rio Olympic Games title to banned Jemima Sumgong, a neighbor in Nandi county.
Sumgong was also suspended from competition for eight years following the use of EPO.
