Inaugural Kakamega sevens champion Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has been seeded top ahead of this weekend’s Kabeberi sevens in Meru’s Kinoru stadium.
The bankers lead pool A alongside Impala Saracens, who lost 5-3 to bronze medalist Mwamba in quarterfinals in Kakamega, Menengai Oilers and hosts Meru RFC.
Newly promoted side Northern Suburbs, who beat Kenyatta University side Blak Blad at the Division two finals is the lower-ranked team in pool D and will be facing Kakamega 4th placed Nakuru, Strathmore Leos and former champions Kabras Sugar.
KCB defeated reigning champions Homeboyz to lift the title.
But KCB will be chasing to win the second title against defending champions Homeboyz after beating Nakuru RFC 19-7.
After losing to the KCB, Homeboyz leads pool B to defend their title against Uganda7s champions Stanbic Pirates, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and Nairobi University side Mean machine in pool B.
Nondescripts play their Ngong Road derby Kenya Harlequins in pool C Mwamba, and Egerton University side The Wasps.
