Sheila Chajira debuts as Kenya Lionesses chase Olympic slot

Kenya Lionesses head coach Felix Oloo has handed Sheila Chajira to travel with team in the 2020 Olympic Games qualifier in South Africa next week.

Oloo named the squad with eight days before their first game against Madagascar in South Africa on August 9.

A busy weekend of international rugby on July 13 saw the conclusion of the Elgon Cup with Kenya’s Lionesses backing up their 44-14 home win over Uganda in the first leg in June with a 35-5 victory in the return match, to win 79-19 on aggregate.

Captain Phila Olando is optimistic the Lionesses will qualify for the 2021 Rugby World Cup.

Kenya’s second game will be against Uganda on August 13 before taking on hosts South Africa on August 17.

The winner of the tournament will qualify directly to the World Cup while the second best team will play a match against a selected team from South America and join the global repechage tournament if victorious.
