Captain Kenneth Muguna netted a brace as Kenya Premier League (KPL) defending champions started the title defence with a win against former champions Tusker in Kisumu.
The champion started on a high beating Tusker 5-2 with Nicholas Kipkirui starting the goal marathon for Gor before Muguna adding the second, followed by Boniface Omondi, Charles Momanyi before Muganded sealed his brace.
As Tusker’s Boniface Muchiri scored the two goals for the brewers.
In the earlier at the same venue, Enosh Ochieng scored a brace as Ulinzi Stars gunned down debutants Kisumu All Stars 2-0.
In other matches, Mathare United was held by Bandari at Ruaraka grounds, Sony Sugar lost 0-3 to visiting Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Green Stadium in Awendo with goals from Enock Agwanda, Stephen Waruru and Yusuf Mohammed.
In Machakos, KPL returnees Wazito was held by the visiting Nzoia Sugar in a one all draw in Machakos.
Nzoia scored first through Collins Wakhungu as Elvis Rupia leveled for Wazito.
