Jubilant athletes who represented Kenya at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar returned today with song and dance at the Kenyatta International Airport on Monday 7th.
Team Kenya was heroically received by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.
Kenya had won 11 medals to finish second at the global athletics championships-five gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Kenya won gold through Ruth Chepng’etich (marathon), Hellen Obiri (5,000m), Conseslus Kipruto (3,0000m steeplechase), Beatrice Chepkoech (3,000m steeplechase), and Timothy Cheruiyot (1,500m).
Silver medalists were Faith Chepng’etich (1,500m) and Margaret Chelimo (5,000m) and bronze were won by Ferguson Rotich (800m), Rhonex Kipruto (10,000m), Amos Kipruto (10,000m) and Agnes Jebet Tirop (10,000m).
