Allan Oyende won the Nairobi Scrabble Kenya tournament played over the weekend at the Stanchart head office in West Lands.
Coming from Kajiado county, Oyende won the title with one round to spare and went back on top of the standing after garnering 14 wins +1410.
He edged out home player and host Martins Mutahi with 12 wins +736 while Gitonga Nderitu in third with 12 wins +428. In 4th place was Tony Ochola from Kiambu County who got 11.5 points while Bernard Koyyoko from Nairobi closed the podium in 5th place with 11 wins.
In the Intermediate division, John Mwariri from Kiambu won gold with 13. 5 +619. Second place went to Benson Kimanthi from the University of Eldoret who won an impressive 13 wins +664. Bronze went to Frederick Gitagia from Nairobi County who had 12 wins. Fourth place went to Francis Gichu from Masinde Muliro University while Limo Kipkemoi closed the podium.
The Open Division was very competitive with more than 5 schools represented. Precious Omondi from Kenyatta University won first place with an impressive 13 wins +1211.
Second place was taken by Simon Mbuthia who got 12 +1003 Third place went to Calvin Opundo of KAA.
This was the last outing before the Word warriors head for the WESPAC tournament in Goa, India.
The next national tournament will be hosted in Eldoret on the 9th and 10th of November .
