Starlets’ Olympic qualifiers in limbo as FKF call for government funding

Harambee starlets journey to 2020 Olympic Games hangs in a balance after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) called off the training camp.

The David Ouma led side has been camping ahead of their 4th round of Olympic qualifiers against Zambia ahead of Tokyo slot.

FKF president Nick Mwendwa said that the Harambee Starlets have not received any funding from the government since last year.

If they will not compete against Zambia in a two-legged 2020 between November 8-14, then the opponents will travel to Tokyo, Japan without playing any match.

Mwendwa directed the federations’s frustration to Sports Permanent Secretary Kirimi Kaberia, whom he accused of “intentionally failing to fund football activities.”
