City Stars maintains NSL lead as Stima, Vihiga wins

Former Kenya Premier League (KPL) side maintained their pole position following their victory on Friday 8th in the National Super League (NSL) match against neighbours FC Talanta played at Camp Toyoyo.

Ebrima Sanneh’s 57th-minute goal sealed the victory for City Stars to accumulate 35 points from 13 matches, six better than second-placed Nairobi Stima who beat Administration Police (AP) 2-1 at Karuturi Sports ground.

Demoted sides Vihiga United and Mount Kenya United also recorded wins in their respective matches.

Alex Imbutsa and Smith Ouko scored a goal apiece as Vihiga defeated Coast Stima 2-0 at their Mumias Complex backyard while MKU’s Clement Masikidi’s 49th-minute goal was enough as the saw off visiting Modern Coast Rangers at Ruaraka.

Imbutsa netted first in 7th minute before Ouko sealing the victory 21 minutes latter for Vihiga as they chase to return to KPL next season.

In other matches, Ushuru lost 0-2 at home to visiting Bidco United, Fortune Sacco scoring the highest goals against St. Joseph Youth in 3-1 while Migori Youth played out to a 2-all draw against debutants Murang’a Seal.
