“Most of the players’ parents have lost income because a huge number do contractual jobs which are no longer available. And that means that even the players themselves are not eating well. We have started a program where we have set aside five dollars for each family and we have started with our players,” Otieno said.

Health officials will now begin tracing of Otieno’s contacts over the last two weeks.

Last week, Otieno participated in an activity with some National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) officials in Maringo. Present included treasurer Anthony Kariuki, tennis coach Rosemary Owino and NOCK’s Strength and Conditioning consultant Geoffrey Kimani.

As thus, NOCK is set to test all its officials and employees especially those who had interacted with Otieno to prune out any positive cases and avoid further spread
