Construction works at Kamariny stadium has stalled after the contractor was suspended.
According to Daily Nation, Elgeyo-Marakwet County’s development coordination committee has indefinitely suspended construction work at the Sh281 million Kamariny Stadium due to slow pace of work.
Construction work at the stadium was meant to be finished by end of August, however, the contractor has requested to be given until end of September “due to logistical challenges.” County officials overseeing the project said it is impossible to finish the work left within the deadline.
“We have been assessing and monitoring construction work on the site since June from the time Sports Kenya officials gave the contractor a three-month ultimatum to finish the work but no meaningful work has been going on at the site. Because of that, we want the contractor to leave the site instead of wasting time and giving false hopes,” County Commissioner Dr Omar Ahmed said
“We have terminated the contract and issued a notice of default through the project manager. The process of getting a more serious contractor will start immediately,” Ahmed said
