Competing as the only Kenyan, Daniel Simiu Ebenyo won the Berlin 10km Invitational Road Race today in the Germans capital.
Defeating his close rival with more than a minute, Ebenyo won with his personal best of 27:18 ahead of homegrown Simon Boch in 28:37 as another homeboy Aaron Bienefield completed the podium in 28:46.
Following the win, Ebenyo said his next move will be to compete at the saturday’s Kip Keino Classic, the World Athletics Continental Tour at Nyayo stadium.
“The race was good and being the only Kenyan, it was good that I came home with a win,” said Ebenyo.
The win was a good solace for the athlete who had missed to compete at the Ostrava Golden Spike two weeks ago due to visa hitch.
His win is a motivation as he will be chasing team Kenya ticket for Olymnpic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
“After Kip Keino, I want to try my best in chasing a ticket for 2021 Olympic Games slot, which is very competitive,” said Ebenyo.
