Githae to face Kawauchi at Fukuoka marathon

Kenyan Michael Githae will lead Kenyans Paul Kuira and Silas Kingori for this year’s Fukuoka marathon set for December 6th in Japan.

Having the best time 2:09.21, Githae will lead Paul Kuira (2:11:58) and Silas Kingori who will be making his debut in the 42km  distance.

Race organizers released the have announced their elite field for the World Athletics Gold Label road race where the restrictions on international travel, the line-up is predominantly domestic but it includes some of the top marathon runners in the country, along with a few Japan-based internationals.

Home boy Ryu Takaku, who set a big PB of 2:06:45 in Tokyo earlier this year, is the fastest in the field.

Another big name is Yuki Kawauchi, the 2018 Boston Marathon champion, will be making his 11th appearance in Fukuoka.
