Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa led other Kenyan football lovers in mourning the death of former former Football Kenya Limited (FKL) president Mohammed Hatimy who died on Saturday morning, November 14th, 2020.
The outspoken football administrator who was serving as Mombasa County Assembly (MCA) be suspected to have succumbed to coronavirus disease.
Hatimy in the assembly served as the chairman for Finance Committee in Mombasa County Assembly was among seven MCAs who tested positive leading to the temporary closure of the assembly on October 27.
On his official twitter account @Nmwendwa this morning, Mwendwa wrote “RIP President ! Till we meet again.”
Hatimy, who was also the Chairman of county’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), died in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
Hatimy passed on at 3am at a Mombasa Hospital where had been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“He was suffering from lung infection,” Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Ibrahim Khatri said, while confirming Hatimy’s death.
His family said they were planning to bury him at the Kokowani Cemetery later in the day of Saturday.
Hatimy was husband to Dr. Khadija Shikelly, the Mombasa County Medical Services Chief Officer
