Athletics Kenya Central Rift Region will present 75 athletes ahead of tomorrow’s World Under-20 Championships.
The region that consists of three counties of Nandi, Uasin Gishu and Baringo the athletes will be battling for slots that starts on Friday November 20th to Saturday 21st at the Nyayo national Stadium.
This came after the designate world under 20 championships, which were to be held in Nairobi in July were postponed to August 17-22 next year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Athletes like Zeddy Jepleting and Nickson Kipkirui are set to compete for the region to battle for the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani show in 2021.
Athletics Kenya central rift secretary Kennedy Tanui, the region did not host any trials to select the team but since they have had training camps, they picked from the camps and will take a good team to compete against the best in the country.
“Our focus was to ensure that the young athletes run well at the nationals. as a region, we saw there was no need to start another process of hosting trials yet we have very good training camps that produces the best junior runners,” said Tanui.
