Cheruiyot out of Athletics Award

Reigning World 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot has missed out on the World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year Award.

After dominating Diamond Leagues series in the coronavirus season, Cheruiyot was the only Kenyan hope for the award.

But it was dishearten as the World Athletics released the final five nominees for the award with the winner expected to be announced virtually on December 5.

Cheryiyot was to face Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, Two-time 400m hurdles world champion Karsten Warholm of Norway, former world javelin champion Johannes Vetter, of Germany, World Pole vault record holder Mondo Duplantis of Sweden and USA’S Ryan Crouser.
