Chepng’etich wins silver at New Delhi Half marathon





Reigning
marathon champion Ruth Chepng’etich won silver at the New Delhi Half marathon
ran today in India

As
Africa cross country champion Leonard Barsoton was the first Kenyan, finishing
in 5th position.

Chepngetich
finished second behind Ethiopia’s Yalemzerf
Yehualaw who ran the second-fastest women’s half marathon in history in 64:46
as Chepngetich clocked 65:06 before ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh completing the
podium in 65:21.

Former world cross country champion Irene Cheptai (66:43) was in
4th position before Tsehaye Gemechu (67:16) in 5th
position.

In men’s race, Barsoton was the top most Kenyan in the 5th
position clocking 59:10 in a race won by Ethiopia’s Amdemlak Yehualaw in 58:53 the
third-fastest time of the year.

Another Ethiopian Andamlak Belihu (58:54) was second as ugandan
Stephen Kisa (58:56) completed the podium while Muktar Edris (55:04) and
Barsoton were in 4th and 5th positions respectively.
