Hosts Moi University West Campus and Univerity of Eldoret (UoE) qualified in men’s and ladies football quarters and semi final respectively in the ongoing Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) national play offs.
The Saturday and opening was good for Moi who enjoyed crossed over to Annext, school of Law winning two out of three games played to top pool A.
Moi started on a high note by beating Meru University 2-0 before regidtering a 1-0 win over Pwani University but lost to Strathnmore in their last match.
The win means they join last 2015 finalist Strathmore University in the quarters.
After picking a point in opening encounter against Meru University, Mickey Weche-coached side, Strathmore revived themselves with a 1-0 win over Moi and a barren draw against Pwani University to qualify to the quarters ahead of Meru University who managed one win.
Defending champions, Kenyatta University forced a one-all draw in their final match in the preliminaries against Egerton to qualify to the next round of the games.
Egerton finished top ahead of the champions but had a better goal difference. Technical University of Kenya (TUK) joined Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) to the quarter finals.
In women’s football encounter, MMUST and Meru University qualified to the semi finals in their pool as the first and second place respectively. MMUST won two matches to keep a clean sheet while Meru earned Mount Kenya University (MKU) Thika campus their second defeat of the competition with a 3-0
In another pool, defending champions University of Eldoret (UoE) finished second in their pool behind Desert Roses of Kenyatta University to qualify to the semi finals.
The women’s semi finals will be played at Moi School of Law grounds while men’s matches will be played at UoE main campus.
