The Saturday football finals was met with new champions as defending champions faced an uphill task and rejuvenated sides that proved to be the new force to reckon with in the primary schools ball games.

A solitary goal from Kevin Kurui was enough to help his Baringo County win the first title since the county system came into force.

Kurui’s goal helped Baringo who managed a slim victory against defending champions Kericho County in boys’ football final match on the last day of a three day ball games extravaganza.

The 28th minute goal was the game changer during the all-balanced match. Kurui received a cross from striker James Egis, who had missed a penalty but capitalized on the rebound by Kericho goalkeeper Brian Koros to return the ball into play.

Nickson Rono had handled the ball in the danger zone and Egis stepped forward to convert the penalty but Koros was swift enough to punch the ball on his right hand side as Egis followed up and his cross was well converted by Kurui.

Egis this time was not lucky to convert a penalty as he did during the semifinal match against Narok on Friday evening at the same venue, which was the only goal that sent them to the final play.
