Battle of titans shifts to Eldoret this weekend in the ongoing Kenya Basketball Federation Division One League play off when home club Eldonets welcome Africa Nazarene University (ANU) as both teams seek to qualify for semi final match.
But pressure on home based side in a must win matches for them to qualify for semi final match slated for Saturday and Sunday at Uasin Gishu High School court. Eldonet will be seeking to revenge against ANU who beat them last weekend in their homeground to deem their hopes but playing at home will be an added advantage, the same way they beat them at home.
Eldonets will take on ANU on Saturday at 10:00am before a return match on Sunday at the same venue and time and Maurice Ouma, the Eldonet player cum coach was optimistic that that won’t worry them as they are assured of winning both matches to take the ticket for semis.
“We have to win both matches for us to progress to the semi final match. As a team, we have prepared very well for the them after we lost to them last weekend. We have enough confidence to beat ANU,” said Ouma.
If Eldonets beat ANU, they will face their arch-rivals Umoja Basketball club also based in Eldoret. Umoja is currently leading the play off with 41 points followed by Zetech University with 38 points. The top two teams have already qualified for semi finals and Umoja is waiting for the winner between Eldonets and ANU.
In the six team format, Umoja leads with 41 points followed by Zetech on 38, Barclays bank (37), Eldonets (36) while ANU and Kenyatta University are tied on 34 points each.
