Jepchirchir’s 2017 focus

Having run her best road across the world, reigning IAAF world half marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir will be making launching her marathon debut in next year’s Boston marathon, a course that has recently been dominated by Kenyans.

After missing to start her 42km race at this year’s Frankfurt marathon when she picked an injury with a week to the race, she has set her focus and praying to almighty that keeps her off injury to run well in Boston.

“I will be making my debut in marathon Boston come April after I failed to run in this year’s Frankfurt which I was very prepared but I was unfortunate to pick a minor injury that kept me off marathon. Right now, I am preparing concentrating for race seriously,” said Jepchirchir.

But before travelling to the world’s super power nation, the double Family Bank half marathon champion will be competing at February’s Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) half marathon to shape up her skills.

Having run her personal best of 66:39, Jepchirchir wants to run better time in marathon as a gateway for world championships like IAAF world champions, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

“I have never run on track in my life and as you know Boston is not a faster course but I want to try my best to run well and get personal best time for championships. I want to run well in Boston next year so that I may join the national team for London world championships and 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan. If I had run on track may be I will be competing in various races,” said Jepchirchir.

As she prepares for the event and preparing to wear national colours at world events, he has put prayers first to avoid any injury occurrence.

“For me to run for this country in marathon, I want to do well by praying to God so that I may not pick an injury.

She said that she runs very well in half marathon but when her injury cannot allow her to go past 30km as she feels too much pain, keeping her out of marathon.
