Alfred Nandwa paired well with Samuel Njoroge to lead the first day of the 2017 Nairobi District Foursome Golf Tournament that kicked off at par 71 Muthaiga golf course on Friday.
Coming from Kenya Railway golf Club, the duo led vet lab’s Moi Lemoshira and lee Njoroge on the three day event to kick off the year in style.
On the pre qualifying round, Nandwa and bogeyed two holes on Friday, birdied on hole six and pared all their remaining holes to win with 8-7.
With Nandwa leading the race for stardom, Nandwa said they wanted to finish the game early and go back to their club. On Saturday, the duo will face Thika’s Edwin Kiarie and peter Rimui that strats off at 8:20am.
“Today, we started on a bad day but we knew we had time to renergyze ourselves. At the end, the day was a great day for us as we wanted to end the match quickly and go back to our club which we did,” said Nandwa.
In other results, Nguru Wachira paired with George Karugu from Windsor won in their match against team A of Anthonys Mogere and Gacheru that concluded at 18th hole compared to Nandwa’s team that ended on hole 12.
It was another great day for Golf park’s Elias Indeche paired with John Mburu who won against Thika golf club’s team B of Patrick King’ori and Duncan Ndung’u to 3-2. Their win propelled them to meet with Royal’s B team of Jay Sandhu and Quram Bhatti.
Nguru Wachira and George Karugu of Windsor B will play against Kiambu’s Michael karanja and Michael Ngene.
