Kenya Premier League (KPL) will now consist of 18 teams following the final announcement by Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) ruled in favour of Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
This was a breakthrough on the competition of top tier league in the country this season after a long tussle at the SDT between FKF and KPL .
SDT chairman John Ohaga announced that the duo have agreed to expand the premier league.
“We have agreed towards running an 18 team KPL in 2017. What remains is to tie up the figures involved and the accountants for both parties will meet today to ratify the same,” he said.
Ohaga said the two parties have agreed that Sh36million is needed to bridge the budget for an expanded league.
