Tusker’s James Musyoki resigns

James Musyoki has announced his resignation both as chairman of the Kenyan Premier League limited and Tusker Football Club.

Musyoki tendered his resignation Thursday morning and has been granted his wishes by the club. The search for a suitable replacement begins.

Confirming the development, Musyoki said his decision was not influenced at all by the current tiff between KPL and Football Kenya Federation, but rather a personal decision that he took months ago.

“I have resigned as Tusker chairman so obviously that means that I cannot hold the chairmanship position at KPL. It is something that I had talked about since last year and the club is aware,” said Musyoki.

“Holding such positions takes up a lot of your time and because I have other businesses to take care of, I have decided to step down from my position.”

Musyoki has been the brewers’ chairman for close to a decade, and his departure is set to be a significant blow to the reigning KPL champions.

The club officials have begun sourcing for a replacement, and it is expected that the announcement shall be made in a few weeks.
