Hosts Eldoret Solasa dominated the Solasa ladies Tournament for both senior and junior categories in an entertaining match played at Wareng High School, Eldoret.
Eldoret Solasa FC senior B team beat their counterparts A as well as Eldoret Solasa Junior side beat Pioneer Ladies titles.
Striker Silvia Shilabukha scored first with just four minutes into the match to give Eldoret A the lead, with her right footed shot hit the bottom corner of the goal.
On 20th minute, Mitchell Chvingo scored for Eldoret B senior team regained control in the midfield to levelize before the break.
After the break, team A seemed to have lost concentration and morale as their B team dominated the field and Ruth Ingosi netted a score to seal their fate at 2-1 at the final whistle.
At the finals Eldoret team A beat Malindi 5-0 in the knock out stages while team B narrowly eliminated Butere 2-1.
In the junior category, both Eldoret junior A and B teams met in the finals.
Team B beat A in the penalty shootoits after a barren draw in the regulation and extra time.
Director Solasa Sports Elizabeth Shako who is implimenting the Solidarity with women in distress (solwogidi) projects praised the talent exhibited during the tourney.
According to Shako, the tourney is aimed at nurturing talent and bringing youth together to be empowered and sensitized on various life skills.
She said some of the girls whose football skills have been honed have secured scholarships for coaching courses abroad.
Up to now 14 girls have been trained for coaching level B course in Germany and this year two are set to join the academy for the same course in Germany.
“Such tournaments are good for us so that we can also identify our best players for the next level in football. Apart from the coaching courses we also sent two staff to be trained as team managers” Shako said.
