Goalkeeping errors cost by both goalkeepers of Eldoret Solasa and Mumias during the opening day of Solasa football tournament held on Saturday at Wareng High School ground.
Lack of concentration between the posts played a critical role for both teams to score against each other as Eldoret dominated the tournament.
In the first match, Eldoret senior team’s side, Eldoret A managed a slim victory against Mumias 2-1 in what could have been a draw if goalkeepers Everline Aluoch of Mumias and Annet Kundu of Eldoret A played a crucial role for goals in their nets.
Capitalizing on Mumias goalkeeper Aluoch, Lydia Vaguza opened the score for Eldoret Solasa A on 21st minute with her fast break. Her shot bounced in front of Aluoch and rolled over her head into the net.
Irene Sinaya cancelled the score four minutes later. Sinaya scored on a rebound when Eldoret Solasa A’s failed contain Pauline wafula’s shot and the rebound landed on the right foot of Sinaya before the break.
With another Aluoch’s blunder, Ruth Ingosi scored the winner on 34th minute with her right foot shot went through the hands of Aluoch for a 2-1 final win.
Eldoret Solasa B walloped 5-0 in another match played at the same venue.
Solitary goal from Nancy Nanyumba’s on 46th minute gave the win for Eldoret Solasa Junior team against Malindi Solasa team.
The two teams had numerous missed chances in both goals but Nanyumba redeemed the image of the hosts who, most of the time was pinned in their half especially during second half as Eldoret Junior B beat Kisumu junior 7-1
