Following an ongoing Women Premier League (WPL) registration process that has not been completed by the clubs, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has extended the deadline date to Friday 10 March, C.E.O Robert Muthomi has confirmed.
“The FKF Women Premier League player registration that has been on going, be advised that the deadline has been extended to Friday 10th March 2017,” reads a letter sent to clubs by Muthomi.
Oserian coach Hudson Odari admitted that most teams including the Naivasha side have not completed the registration process and the extension will give them ample time to recruit new players. He also added that teams are anticipating a better season which would be realized if the league got sponsorship.
“It is a good thing that the registration deadline has been extended since we are still recruiting new players to strengthen our squad, and it also involved talking to their parent clubs which takes time. We hope that this time the league will be bigger and better. Good things are not rushed, so we are crossing our fingers so that by the time we officially start, we will have sponsors on board,” Odari said
Oserian finished second in Zone B despite being strong favorites, and will be keen to stamp authority when the long awaited 2017 season finally kicks off.
