Dickson Masindano wins Kenya Seed golf tourney

Handicap 17 golfer Dickson Masindano won the weekend’s Kenya Seed Classic golf tournament Golf tournament held at par 72 Kitale golf course as he took home a Heifer.

Taking advantage of home course, Masindano won the annual tournament in the green County ahead of the planting season across the Trans Nzoia County, which is rated as the Kenya’s maize basket.

The two day event, golfers went through 36 holes, away from the normal 18 holes where experience and endurance played a critical role.

On Saturday, Masinado played five over 77 before returning with two under 70 to acculate his score to three over 147 to emerge top and had to herd his Heifer home.

“I worked hard to win the tournament. At the same time, I come from the club and I understand the course very well, which gave the an advantage against others,” said the jovial Masindano.

He added that he is used in playing Nairobi courses where pins are badly located compared to Kitales positioning that were in good place.

“Pins were correctly  placed and were advantageous to me too. With 36 holes to be played, many golfers are not used too and I took advantage too as most of golfers are used on playing 36 holes,” added Masindano.

The jovial Masindano was closely followed by Nandi Bears golfer Tom Atuma who finished second with four over 148.

Handicap 08 Atuma played well on the opening day with two under 70 and 78 on the last day. He was followed by home grown and ever green Philip Shiharsy. The handicap 02 golfer played 7 over 151 with 75 and76 in each day to complete the podium places.

Handicap 20 golfer Harun Ndegwa was a distance fourth with 152 Gross (80-72) beating handicap 09 Eliud Weche and handicap 21 Phyllis Kisuna in count back.
