Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is in the process of selecting the under 20 players ahead of international matches.
Led by experienced Harambee Starlets players Lilian Awuor and Vivian Corazon, the team selection will take place in Eldoret where the 38 players have pitched camp.
The players reported in the camp on Monday and and they will pitch tent for the next 10 days as the technical bench selects the better side for national duties.
Goalkeeper Awuor and midfielder Corazon will lead other youthful and inexperienced side.
Watching the training from the stands on Thursday was FKF vice chairperson DorisPetra who promised best selection.
“This is just but the beginning of building girls’ football across the country. When we are through with the under 20, we will then select the under 17 team, which is currently playing the Copa Coke Cola tournament across the country,” said Petra who is in-charge of women’s football.
She added that the technical bench consists of Harambee Starlets players led by Ann Aluoch under the guidance of FKF.
“Our intention is to make our girls grow in football both in playing, coaching and management. We have put girls in this step so that they can learn a lot in football management,” added Petra.
She pointed out what happened with the men’s under 20 team that was disqualified for fielding ineligible players.
