GSU, KPC wins double in Eldoret KVF meeting

Former national volleyball men’s champions General Service Unit (GSU) recorded two wins in the third leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation league staged at Eldoret Polytechnic ahead of AMACO tournament on Saturday.

 First the red berets won against their arch rivals Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in the opening match with three straight sets of 25-20, 25-23 and a long stretch set of 29-27.

In the second match, GSU against won against Mount Kenya University by the similar margin of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-12.

It was also bad day in office for MKU whom lost the second match to Nairobi Water in three straight sets in court four.

Nairobi Water won the opening set in 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22

In Prisons’ derby, Prison Kenya humiliated their Mombasa counterpart Mombasa Prison 3-0 (25-22, 25-21 and 25-17.

But it was a long day in a match between volleyball powerhouses Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Cooperative Bank.

The duo struggled to win as they pulled a four thrilling setter where the bankers won 3-1.

Coop won the opening set 25-23 and the long second set at 28-26 but lost concentration losing the third set of 25-17 to the dockers but regained the energy to win the determining fourth set in 25-18.

In women category, Kenya Pipeline company (KPC) won two matches of the day at the leg. The dockers easily sailed through Nairobi 3-0 (25-11, 25-21 and 25-15 and MKU 3-0 (25-16, 25-13 and 25-12.

Prison Kenya beat Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in a thrilling four setter. The warders opened the first score of 25-19 and KCB took the second in 25-14. But Prisons won the last two sets of 25-09 and 25-04.
