Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) came from two sets down to shine against Nairobi Water in the fourth leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league held on Friday at Nanyuki stadium.
As the Water providers awaited to celebrate the first win against the forces, the tides changed and their winning set was won by KDF.
The Nairobi based team had won two opening sets of 25-19 and stretched the second 27-15 before the determining set for the water providers.
Resurgence KDF won the proceeding three successful sets to win the opening match in men’s category.
In a five thriller setter, KDF won the third set in 25-23, followed by a 25-18 and 15-10 wins to increase their chances in the league.
Kenya Ports Authority won against Mombasa Prison in another four setter thriller. The Mombasa based warders won the opening set of 25-22 but failed to manage the speedy and skilled dockers who won the three successful sets of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19 while Coperative Bank shone against Administration Police in three straight sets of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-09.
In women’s category, national champions Kenya Prison prevailed against Mount Kenya University 3-1. It was an easy win for the warders against students with the later winning the second set of 25-22. But they had easily lost the first set of 25-09 but confusion in Prison’s team was an advantage for MKU to sneak in a win in the second set.
The warders breathed fire by winning the last determing sets of 25-12 and 25-19. In an earlier match, Kenya Pipeline Company win over Western Bombers by three straight sets of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-16.
