Kenya Golf: Nakuru hosts Kitale in Western golf Clubs league

Western Kenya Golf Clubs League Championships returns this weekend in various clubs following a break after August 8th general elections.

Par 73 Nakuru golf Club will be hosting another 73 Kitale Club in what to be a mouth watering encounter.

The two clubs from Nakuru and Trans nzoia Counties will face off in search of points from ten clubs from Western region.

The clubs are Kitale, Nandi Bears, Nyanza, Kakamega, Kericho, Eldoret, Njoro, Nakuru, Mumias and Kisii.

Nakuru club’s captain Robert Obondy was confident that the ten golfers will represent their club come Sunday, will fly their flag higher since they are playing at home and collect maximum points.

While Kitale’s Fandi Shiyukah did not bow down but said his team will be great enough to win the points even though they will be playing away from home, where the two clubs are playing in their first matches compared to other clubs.

Obondy said: “We want to play very well come Sunday and collect all points on offer. The golfers are ready for the league and come Sunday, we will do well.”

His counterpart Fandi was also confident that being the first game in the series, they will have to field good players and register a win.

“We are ready for the championships after elections and as a club, we have to do well away from home,” said Fandi.
