Zurich Diamond League: Ruth Jebet destroy kenyan party as Margaret Wambui third

Kenyan born turned Bahrain international runner Ruth Jebet destroyed Kenyan contingent to win the 3,000m steeplechase during Zurich Diamond League, Weltklasse tonight (Thursday) as Olympic and IAAF world championships bronze medalist Margaret Nyairera Wambui finished third.

The world record holder and an Olympic champion, Jebet ran 8:55.29, the second fastest performance in history missing out on world record when she slowed down to the finish line.

She beat Kenyan Beatrice Chepkoech to second in after finishing 4th at London world championships clocked 8:59.84 becoming the fourth woman to run under nine minutes.

Former world junior 2,000m steeplechase champion Norah Jeruto came a distance third timing 9:05.31 but American Emma Coburn did not match her London exploits and finished in 9:14.81 ahead of world bronze medalist Hyvin Kiyeng in 9:14.93.
