Rhino Charge: Kipeto hosts Champagne 4×4 Challenge

The forthcoming Champagne 4X4 Challenge in Kipeto region of Kajiado County will literally be the place to be on the weekend of September 16-17.

Already 30 entries have been received for the event that will be used a yardstick to prepare drivers ahead of the annual Rhino Charge.
According to event organisers Kim Njenga and George Njoroge, the event has been categorized into three classes for beginners who will run on standard 4×4 cars with basic safety requirements, intermediates who must have roll-cages and helmets and the experts who will be entering properly built cars with  bucket seats and roll cages.
Prior to the competition, there will be overnight camping with tents offered at affordable rates and side show fun and entertainment for spectators pror to the main competition.

“Basically the Champagne 4X4 Challenge is aimed at encouraging
competitor savor the 4X4 splendor on a low budget besides training
them on how to use winches, low and high gear and diff locks. It has
been the norm running a beginner training on the eve of the event to
familiarize beginners on the 4X4 intricacies on the day the camping
takes place,” explained Njoroge.

The event has attracted the usual expert category suspects including
Team Wazimu, Team Magic and top individuals among them round two
winner  Ashvini Kumar,  Glena Jiwani, Pritpal Roopra, Dipak Team waz,
Dash Patel and H.Singh.

Intermediate drivers enlisted for the event include Chiran Soni
representing Team Magic, Trishna Patel, Joe Jean, Pitam, .Dilraj B,
Letion Keen, Muna Singh, Manish K and Leon K.

Beginners will not be left behind in the protracted battle between man
and machine. Youngster Rajveer Thethy, George Mbwana and Nkirote G are
easily the men to watch in the category.

There is also a sense of gender balance as two ladies including
Catherine Kimathi and Vicky will enter the fray in the beginners
class. Also worth watching are Magnate Chargers who will be going for
the jugular with the likes of Sharon Wangari, JB Kariuki, Joe Muchiri,
David Mwaura and Edward Muniu.

The list would be incomplete without the mention of Team Wazimu duo of
Manish and Dipak, Kaka Junior of Mudrovers and Ryaz of Zayn Autocar.

Njoroge added that fun-seeking spectators will be assured of their
safety and marshals who will be on the ground will issue guidelines
including restrictions to accessing racing spots.
