Former world half marathon champion Mary Keitany ran her best time in the recent year, becoming the third woman to run best time when she won 2017 Great North Run half marathon on Sunday (10th).
The New Castle race in England was good harvest for Kenyan women who took the first five places with keitany beating defend champion and Olympic 5,00m Olympic champion Vivian Cheruiyot.
Three time New York Marathon champion clocked 65:59 to win the race becoming the third woman to run fastest time on the course.
She beat Cheruiyot, who won the her first road race last year on course, finishing second in 67”44 before Caroline Kipkirui, Keitany’s London marathon pace setter coming third in 69:52.
Magdalene Masai taking fourth in 1:10:39 and Betsy Saina finishing fifth in 1:11:25.
