Kenya Amateur Golf: Edwin Mudanyi’s two shot overnight lead

Vetlab golfer Edwin Mudanyi enjoyed the two shot overnight lead in the opening day of Manchester Salver, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) on par 71 Eldoret golf course.

As father Robert Kasi sets high profile against his son Mike Kisia in the Mediheal Group of Hospitals sponsored tournament.

The +1 handicap golfer played level Gross to emerge the leader after playing the opening 18 holes on today (Saturday 4th).

Coming to Eldoret as the series leader with 371.5 points, Mundayi leads by two shots against his competitors ahead of tomorrow’s final day where they will play other 18 holes in the 16th meeting of KAGC.

He said that he has a focus to win the title comeSunday toincrease the chances of winning the overall KAGC title.

“The greens were playable that is why I managed to play my best. Come tomorrow,mental strength like I did today is what I need,” said Mudanyi.

Mudanyi played one over 36 in the front nine with a birdie on hole nine with luck coming on hole nine with a birdie after shooting three back to back pars in the opening three holes, pars five, three and four and other back to back bogeys on holes 4 and 5 before shooting pars in the remaining holes.

Good tidings followed him in the back nine with two birdies on par fours hole 12 and 14, fives pars, a double bogey and a bogey to close the day with one under 35.

He beat Royal club’s Kevin Juma who shot two over Gross 73 before Bernard Omondi from Ruiru completing the podium with two over gross 73.

Limuru’s Paul Muchangi played three over Gross 74 ahead of Nandi Bears’ Tom Atuma as father Robert Kasi (Eldoret) beat his son Mike Kisia from Vet Lab with 74 Gross.
