Nairobi District Foursome: Robinson Owiti, Edwin Mudanyi defends title

Superlative performance from vet Lab Sports A team of Robinson Owiti and Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) champion Edwin Mudanyi won the 2018 year opener to defend the Nairobi District Foursome Golf title played at the par 71 Muthaiga golf club.

Describing the tournament as ‘tough’ they duo managed to beat hard fighting Railway club’s pair of Samuel Njoroge and George Felix in a match that ended on the 22nd hole after they played hole square on hole 18 and went four hole play-off.

The duo-Owiti and Mudanyi paired well in 2017 to win the title and they did the same in 2018 to defend their title to open the year ahead of KAGC championships that kicks off in Sigona for Sigona Bowl.

“The final round was tough compared to the last year. Our opponents were 2 up 3 holes to play and we managed to to win hole 16 and halfed 17 before we forced play off on hole 18. Our winning was to proof that we are the best in Nairobi District Foursome and clear indication that we won the league last year,” said Owiti.

Before the final match, Vet Lab had beaten Muthaiga’s Neer Chandaria and Mutahi Kibugu 5-4.

“We did very well last year and it was our turn to prove that our win was not a fluke but a proper play from us,” added Owiti.

In quarter final, they saw off Limuru’s John karichu and Dennis Mara in play off on hole 19.

And in the opening round, they managed to beat Kiambu’s Michael Ngene who had combined with Michael Karanga 5-4.
