CAF Championships: Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards focus on return legs

Kenya football giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards has set their focus on the return legs of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) after weekend’s show of mighty.

Gor Mahia won their opening match against visiting Vegetarianos Leones from Equatorial Guinea while Leopards played to a one all draw against FOSA Juniors from Madagascar in the matches played at Machakos and Bukhungu stadium respectively.

The Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia heads to West African side with two goals up that were scored by Kevin Omondi and Ephraim Guikan in each half of play.

Advantaged Gor needs a draw of any score to advance to the next level that will take place in ten days time.

But their Kenyan counterparts GOtv Shield champions Leopards return to continental football with a tricky Caf Confederation Cup test at home to Fosa Juniors of Madagascar following a 1-1 draw at Bukhungu Stadium.

Ingwe returns to the international football for the last four years after they failed to go past the preliminary stage.

The result, especially Fosa’s single away goal hits a major blow in Ingwe’s chances of making it into the first round of the continental competition.

Yusuf Mainge scored first for the Leopards with just three minutes in the match before Rado Mbolasoa equalized for the visitors five minutes later.
