Top amateur golfers will be seeking for points during the Muthaiga Open, the third meeting of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) to be staged on par 71 Muthaiga Golf Course.
Much will be expected as a new champion will be crowned after the defending champion Alfred Nandwa, the then Kenya National team captain became a professional this year.
Railway Club member, Nandwa fired two over 215 on the 54 hole tournament to lift the Muthaiga Golf Open, when he played two over 73 and one over 72 and completed with one under par 70, to end the day with two over 215.
He birdied the par four-first hole, dropped a shot at the short-hole second, but recovered one at the back nine’s 13th hole in the tournament.
John Karichu and Edwin Mudanyi have registered a single win since the championships started. Karichu from Limuru defended his Sigona Bowl championships title at Sigona club while Mudanyi, the KAGC overall title defending champion won the Mount Kenya Championships at Nyeri Club a fortnight ago.
The duo will be hoping to accumulate their points in the 19th meetings across the country.
