Prisons Kenya ladies Volleyball won the opening match against Nigerian side Customs in three straight sets on the second day of Africa Women Volleyball club championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The Kenyan side took control of pool D with the, becoming the second Kenyan team to register a win after Kenya Pipeline beat El Shams of Egypt on Tuesday night.
The wardens won in 25-10, 25-15, 25-15) in their first match of this years championships.
This was seen as a statement of intent by the Kenyan side led by captain Everlyne Makuto. Championship debutante Lorine Chebet, setter Joy Lusenaka and Right attacker Emmaculate Chemtai were the most outstanding performers during the match.
Last years bronze medalists, Prisons, got off to a flying start in the first set by comfortably seeing-of their opponents through a fast-paced game.
