Record 108 set to battle at Ladies Open in Eldoret

A record 108 golfers will turn up for the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) championships at this weekend at par 71 Eldoret golf course.

According to the draw released by host lady captain Nilam Shah, there are 21 lady golfers from neighbouring Uganda in the two day event, where the first day, it will be the KLGU event with medal format while Sunday, they will play stable ford.

“Our course is nine hole and we have received many entries therefore we can’t play the usual morning and afternoon sessions,” said Shah.

Initially, men used to play subsidiary event but the weekend will not feature men golfers due to the congested field.

“This is a record entry in ladies open in our club. With such entry, we are expecting a tough challenge from golfers across the country,” added Shah.

With current much rainfall pounding across the country, last week, the course was flooded with water but Shah assured golfers that the course is so good, and playable.

“The course is so good, very green and playable. The golfers will enjoy the ample playing ground of a life time,” added handicap 21.

For a golfer to complete Eldoret’s 18 holes, the player has to cross river Sosian six times.

Former Muthaiga Naomi Wafula will be tee as she tries still the show after moving to Kitale.

“Am very excited I will be playing in ladies open in Eldoret and I have prepared well,” said Wafula.
