Edward Zakayo to light AK North Rift championships

Commonwealth 5,000m bronze medalist Edward Zakayo will be the key highlight for this Saturday’s Athletics Kenya (A.K) North Rift Track and Field events to be staged at Kenyatta stadium, Kitale.

With five counties – Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana and Samburu-battling out for the slots ahead of national trials where AK will be selecting a team for the Africa Athletics championships.
Zakayo, the 2017 world U18 3,000m silver medalist will be yeaning to kill two birds with one stone this year.
As he battles to run at the continental show, he won the national trials on Tuesday to qualify for World under 20 world championships to be staged in Tampere, Finland.
“I will be competing in Kitale as part of my preparations ahead of global championships,” said Zakayo at Hill school during the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Sports Association.
The form three student at Kapsait secondary school, well known for producing world leading athletes will compete against Victor Togom who won the Elgeyo Marakwet title last weekend.
