Bandari ends Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run

Ten men side Bandari fc handed reigning Kenya Premier League (KLP) champions Gor Mahia their first defeat this season in the KPL match that was played at Mbaraki stadium, Mombasa.

Dan Guya and Yema Mwana netted for hosts Bandari as Jacques Tuyisenge pulled one back in the 2-1 victory

despite playing ten men in the field after Bandari’s Fred Nkata was sent off for a second yellow card, they managed to hold on the lead for the 16 times champions whose fixture is so tight.

With 22 matches without defeat Bandari did unimaginable. Under the tutelage Bernard Mwalala they dominated the match.

Gor boss Dylan Kerr fielded his strongest 11 having been given a scare in a 2-2 draw against Nakumatt over the weekend.

Guya headed in the for home side on the 11th 11 minutes but the league leaders kept pushing forward as Bandari on counter attack, got the second through Yema Mwana sending them 2-0 up after 35 minutes.

Gor ultimately pulled one back through Tuyisenge in the 77th minute as Bandari managed to hold their own and get the three points.

Hosts finished the match with one man down Nkata was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.
