Farhaaz Khan, Keith Henrie set for Mombasa Rally

OiLibya Racing team of Farhaaz Khan and Keith Henrie are looking forward to this weekend’s Mombasa rally with great expectations.

The Nairobi based crew has pulled out all the stops in the 2018 KNRC season and most importantly finished every single event in top 10 positions.
With fifth overall on the recent belated Kenya Motor Sports Club (KMSC) round 3 and seventh overall in Mombasa last year, Fazi and Keith will be looking to up their stage times at sea level to remain in the KNRC top 10.
Driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Fazi finished 8th on the season opening Nakuru Rally, came 6th on Safari, 7tn on RSC Athi Rally and fifth on KMSC Rally.
“Mombasa is always a good rally which we enjoy the most due to it being in the coastal region. The best result I have had in Mombasa is 7th overall last year and hope to better it this year. Fifth overall on KMSC rally was truly inspiring. We are currently lying 2nd in the group N championship behind the talented Eric Bengi. The car has undergone a thorough rebuild since KMSC Rally and it is ready, so we are eagerly awaiting the MMC tour. The support from OiLibya has been the best in our rallying career. It has really boosted our performance this year as we look forward to achieving our goal of top finishes. Oilibya has one of the best petroleum products in Kenya and we are overly excited to drive on their livery. Keith is a very close friend and it is good to have him call the notes which he does in a flawless manner.”-Farhaaz.

Meanwhile, KNRC Division Three leader Imran Khan is looking forward to taking part in his first ever KNRC Mombasa Rally as a driver and returns to compete on the coast event after a five year hiatus.

“I last rallied there (Mombasa) in 2013 with Aslam Khan in the Porsche. We won the classic car cup then. It’s the first time I will drive there. I have always navigated at the coast,” Imran said.

Ahead of his driving debut on the MMC round, Imran has spent the majority of this month testing his Subaru N10.

He said: “After a five year hiatus from the coast, I am really looking forward to my driving debut..Our aim is to finish this event along with other rallies this season in order to clinch the KNRC Division 3 championship. The approach is just to have fun and keep improving the driving and learn different terrains on different parts of the country. The N10 has been an amazing machine. It is great to drive
