Kenya ready for track dominance at Youth Olympic Games

Rated as athletics powerhouse, Kenyan athletes will be takig on track on Thursday in the ongoing Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires Argentina.

Newcomers Francis Leshoo and Angela Ndungwa will battle in boys’ and girls’ 800m preliminary rounds, while Jackson Kavesa and Mercy Chepkorir will field in the 3,000m.

In days to come, javelin throwers Martha Nthanza Musai, who won gold in girls’ championship at the Africa Youth Games and Ita Nao, who claimed silver in boys’ event, will be in action.

Fancy Cherono, who won gold in girls’ 2,000m steeplechase and Dennis Mutuku Matheka, who settled for silver in the boys’ competition, will be in action on Friday alongside the Africa Youth 1,500m winning duo of World Under-18 1,500m bronze medallist Edinah Jebitok and Nickson Pariken.
