Wasps, the Egerton University rugby side will be facing off with University of Nairobi rugby team Mean machine in the semifinal match of the inaugural Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) rugby 15s league at Egerton University ground on Saturday.
This will be a replica of sevens when wasps lost to Mean Machine in the tournaments at the same venue.
Hosts will play UoN in the first semifinal match at 12.00pm before top seeds Kenyatta University duel it out against the Catholic University of Eastern Africa at 2.00pm.
Egerton finished second in pool A, losing 26-06 to leaders Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad while their opponents topped pool B.
Egerton won by a slim margin of 12-11 against Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and won 8-5 against Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Nairobi topped Pool B with a 26-10 win against Catholic University of Eastern Africa who also reached the last four by virtue of previous wins against the Technical University of Kenya (44-14) and the University of Eldoret (23-6).
Blad won all their matches starting their campaign with a 23-14 match day one win over the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology before registering a 29-0 victory over the Technical University of Mombasa on match day two.
They would confirm pole position in Pool A with a 27-6 win over Egerton University who finished second in the pool. The University of Nairobi also registered a 100% record at the close of round robin play in Pool B, starting their campaign with a 27-18 win over the University of Eldoret before posting a 31-0 result against the Technical University of Kenya.
