World 3,000m steeplechase record holder holder Beatrice Chepkoech has been nominated by IAAF to contest as the World Female Athlete of The Year Award.
The reigning Africa Athletics 3,000m champion will face off with ten other world runners for the coveted world award following her exploits in track in the 2018.
After winning Commonwealth 1,500m silver medal, Chepkoech went ahead to clinch the African title with the continental record of 8:59.88 in Asaba, Nigeria.
But her major breakthrough came when she won Monaco IAAF Diamond League with a world record of 8:44.32 in France bringing down Bahraini Ruth Jebet’ s time of 8:52.78.
With her four wins out of five in the Diamond League, Chepkoech won in Shanghai, Paris Brussels and Monaco hence winning the overall title.
According to IAAF, voting is open ahead of IAAF Athletics Awards on 4th December 2018 in Monaco, France.
