Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) will launch their Kenya Cup defence against newly promoted Menengai Oilers today in a pool A match at RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.
Fresh from winning Impala Floodlit for the second time in a row, the Curtis Olago side won 20-18 against hosts Impala Saracens to retain Impala Floodlit three weeks ago.
The six time Kenya Cup winners will be hosting the Gibson Weru in the opener.
In the same group A, Homeboyz will be hosting neighbours Nondescripts at Jamhuri Park Showground in the first match, sugar millers Kabras Sugar will take on Nairobi University side Mean Machine in Kakamega.
Impala Floodlit losing finalists Impala Saracens leads pool B and will be playing Kenya University side Blak Blad at Impala Sports Club as Nakuru visit Strathmore Leos at Madaraka as Kenya Harlequins host Mwamba at RFUEA on Sunday.
The league will be played in two pools of six teams each playing home and away within their respective groups.
The top two teams in the combined log at the end of the regular season will earn direct semi-finals qualification while the teams placed third to sixth will battle it out for the remaining slots in the Top Six playoffs.
Pool “A” has KCB, Homeboyz, Quins, Mwamba, Nondies and Oilers while Pool “B” has Kabras Sugar, Impala Saracens, Strathmore Leos, Nakuru, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, Mean Machine from the University of Nairobi.
