In absence of men’s defending champion Galen Rupp, the 2018 Berlin marathon silver medalist Amos Kipruto and defending champion Bornes Jepkirui Kitur will be the star attraction for this Sunday’s 25th edition of Prague marathon, the IAAF Gold Label road race in Czech Republic.
Kipruto who enjoys a 2:05.43 personal best, finished second behind Eliud Kipchoge in Berlin last year where he broke the world record, will be facing off with Kenyan runners Solomon Kirwa who has his personal best at 2:06.24, Paul Kipyego (2:08.49), Bernard Kiprop (2:06.19) and Stephen Chebogut (2:05.52) as Kenyan contingent will battle out with Bahrain’s Almahjoub Dazza who enjoys best time of 2:05.26 on the course.
Jepkirui, who won last year’s title with her personal best of 2:24.19, will be on the course to defend her title in a race that has attracted top athletes from across the world.
Jepkirui will be facing off with compatriot Lucy Cheruiyot, who is making her debut in 42km distance and Hellen Jepkurgat who enjoys a 2:31.01.
But they will be battling out with Kenyan born turned Israeli Lonah Chemtai Salpeter (2:24.17) as well as Ethiopia’s Genet Yalew (2:27.46).
