Kenya rally from behind to defeat Uganda at Zone V qualifers

Kenya rallied from a set down to defeat Uganda in a five thrilling setter the opening match of the ongoing Zone V All Africa Games qualifiers at Kasarani indoor Arena.

The Moses Epoloto coached side lost the opening set 22-25 but Kenya won the two sets of 25-21 and 25-21.

But resistant Uganda stretched the third set winning in 25-27 with Kenya winning the determiner 15-12 to win the match in their quest to return to the continental Games set for Morocco in August.

Nicholas Mutai was the best scorer with five points in the decider was unrivalled as Kenya led 8-4 in the first technical time out, before completing the job 15-12.

Tomorrow, Kenya will be facing Rwanda who had earlier on lost 3-1 to Egypt at the same venue.

Egypt won the fight in 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 25-16 to tops the standing with three points while Kenya is second with two. Uganda is third with a point while Rwanda are bottom without a point.
