KVF mourns Bargoria

Kenya Volleyball family is mourning the passing on of former Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Chairman and CAVN Vice President Barnabas Bargoria.

In a long post, KVF vice chairman Charles Nyaberi said that Bargoria passed on over the weekend in a Nairobi Hospital.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have just learnt of the passing on of Mr. Bargoria, who has been bravely battling a medical condition for several years,” he wrote.

Bargoria served as Kenya Volleyball Association (Fore-runner of KVF) Chair and CAVB Vice President between 1989 and 1992.

He said that Bargoria’s tenure marked the turning point in Kenya Volleyball History as the country went on to host the first ever joint Men and Women Africa Club Championships in 1991.

He served as TAI and Flamigo Clubs player in Nakuru.  At that same time, he taught and coached Volleyball at Nakuru High School. Among the players he coached was “Sacramanga” Maina Chelogoi.

“Bargoria served as M.D. for National Irrigation Board for a long time. May his Soul Rest in Peace!”
